Description Marrowfat Pea "Miracle of Kelvedon" (Pisum sativum L.) - Seeds Origin: Austria Harvest: 2024 Germination period: approx. 10-14 days Each pack contains approx. 15 seeds! Larger quantities on request! Sowing instructions The pea variety Pisum sativum L. "Miracle of Kelvedon" is a robust and high-yielding variety that is ideal for growing in your own garden. To ensure a successful harvest, you should sow the seeds directly outdoors between March and June. Choose a sunny, sheltered location with well-drained soil. Make a furrow about 3 cm deep and place the seeds about 5 cm apart. Cover them loosely with soil and water them regularly, but not too heavily. The first tender seedlings will appear after about 10-14 days. Harvest, use & storage The Miracle of Kelvedon is one of the early varieties and produces a rich harvest of tender, sweet peas after just 60-70 days. The harvest period runs from June to August. The fresh pea pods taste good raw as a snack, but also in salads, soups or as a side dish to hot dishes. For storage, you can freeze the pods directly to preserve their freshness and taste in the long term. Tips & Tricks To ensure that your peas thrive, I recommend a mixed crop with carrots, beans or cabbage. This promotes growth and protects against pests. Also use climbing supports so that the plants are well supported and can grow upwards. Make sure to harvest the ripe pods regularly, as this stimulates the formation of new pods. Worth knowing The Miracle of Kelvedon is a traditional British variety that has proven its worth since the 19th century. It is particularly resistant to diseases and produces a rich harvest even in slightly cooler summers. With its compact growth, it is also ideal for small gardens or raised beds.
