Ficus elastica ‘Robusta’ is a bold, low-maintenance indoor plant prized for its thick, glossy green leaves and strong upright growth. As a cultivar of the classic rubber tree, ‘Robusta’ features broader, darker foliage and a more compact, stocky formideal for modern interiors needing a clean, architectural statement. Its especially valued for its resilience, tolerating lower light and inconsistent watering better than many other large indoor plants. Native to Southeast Asia, Ficus elastica is naturally a tall tropical tree, but indoors Robusta can be kept to a manageable 12 metres with pruning. Comprehensive Care Instructions for Ficus elastica ‘Robusta’ Lighting Requirements Indoors: Prefers bright, indirect light but adapts well to medium-light positions.
