Description Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa), fruit/seeds from wild collection Origin: Austria Harvest: Fall 2025 Germination period: approx. 4-6 weeks You can choose between 1 and 2 fruits. (each fruit contains 3-6 seeds) Growing instructions: These seeds are light germinators, which is why they should only be thinly covered or not covered with growing medium for germination. Then fill the seed pots with the growing soil, spray with water, place the seeds on the soil and cover only thinly (or not at all) with substrate or press down lightly. It is best to cover the seed pots with plastic foil and air them daily or keep the soil moist. The pots can also be placed in suitable propagators until the seeds have germinated and the seedlings are a few centimetres tall. It is important to ensure a supply of fresh air at least once a day to prevent and avoid mold. After germination of seeds seedlings can be very slowly accustomed to the drier indoor air or fresh air outdoors after a few weeks. As a growing medium, we recommend high-quality potted plant soil, which also contains coarse-grained expanded clay, fine gravel, lava gravel, grit or, alternatively, coarse-grained sand. If young plants are cultivated outdoors, they should nevertheless be somewhat protected - especially from wind and rain.
